THE CALL ON THE STATES TO UPHOLD THE GLOBAL YOUTH CLIMATE ACTION DECLARATION

We the young people, united in diversity from all walks of life, deeply conscious of history, express our ultimate concern for what has become of our generation. We wonder why it has become a matter of debate whether or not climate action should be taken as if we do not have reasons why we should. On that note, we present the global youth climate action declaration to the world to provide solutions and robust framework for addressing generational injustice and the realization of our potential and position on the global decision making table.
We are confident that the destiny of this planet is in our hands and we must act now to shape a future that we want. Our aspirations reflect our desire for shared prosperity and well being across borders, for a free generation where both the young and the old generation exercise their distinguished and unique potentials without fear and advocate for peaceful co-existence and human progress.
We are equally confident that this generation has the capability to build inclusive and prosperous societies based on a just and sustainable agenda and shared values across and beyond the horizon.
We call for a concerted drive towards immediate action on climate change and ensuring that the same conundrum does not befall our next generations. It is our humble call and prayer that our generation be afforded a chance to shape a sustainable future that our next generations will thrive, by holding facilitative dialogues with our leaders to address and respond to the climate crisis with a sense of utmost urgency through scaling up our combined efforts for a better healthy world.
It is within this declaration that we append our hope for a better future and we consciously believe that we shall achieve the same if the provided measures are resolutely taken as soon as required with changed attitude and mindset to rekindle and give room for a collective global prosperity in the fight against this climate crisis.
We affirm our pledge to do our part and align our resources to effectively drive the implementation of the global youth climate action decoration and the Paris Agreement, as we additionally call upon the international community to align their partnerships appropriately and to respect and uphold these measures to achieve our goal.

Washed out on our coasts in obvious and clearly visible form, the plastic pollution spectacle blatantly unveiling on our beaches is only the prelude of the greater story that unfolded further away in the world’s oceans, One biome that has become increasingly affected by plastic waste is the ocean. In a bid to fully unleash young people’s potential especially in respect of issues threatening their future, youth should have skills & values required for their active participation in the decisions shaping their own survival. They should equally be inspired to understand the imperatives of building peaceful and inclusive societies for a safer and more sustainable future.
